Oregano – Origanum vulgare
Out of Stock
Oregano is often seen in spice racks by itself or mixed as an Italian herb mix. Its complex flavor can be attributed to a number of different compounds in its oil. Oregano oil is used medicinally in European herbal traditions, but due to its culinary attributes a dose of the herb in dishes is the way most choose to get their oregano fix.
Oregano’s Mediterranean origins means that it prefers sunny planting sites, with well drained soil. Its form is more prostrate-spreading over a meter in diameter through runners, but only growing to about 30cm in height. Oregano is a perennial groundcover that grows quickly and does not need much care once established. It self-seeds and can be harvested around the year.
